ABOUT THE TEAM

The Service Delivery Office (SDO) is a leader in providing services under the Whole-of-Government Shared Services Programme. The SDO presents a unique opportunity to be involved in developing innovative service delivery arrangements, with an approach to collaboration and sharing of resources that has the potential to add value to not only existing customers but to set the scene for new ways of working across the Australian Public Service.

The Payroll Team manages the transactional pay and entitlement of agency employees. We are responsible for the management and administration of all payroll systems and processes and associated human resources data and reporting. We are committed to consistently improving service standards through innovation, benchmarking and systems/process enhancements.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Payroll Team Leader is responsible for supporting the Team by providing informed advice to managers and employees on a range of employment entitlements. The position is also accountable for handling more complex pay matters.

The APS6 Payroll Team Leader is responsible for:

Undertake tasks related to the leadership of the team in delivering first class customer service in accordance with service level agreements
Training and knowledge transfer across the team
Proactively monitor and manage productivity and quality assurance processes of the team’s output
Actively build and maintain productive relationships
Promoting achievement of continuous improvement through innovation
Lead/Manage the creation and update of procedures and processes and training of team members
Resolve and provide advice on complex matters and identify areas that require escalation to senior management
Complex processing and checking such as VR's, Death, Compensation, Leave Liabilities and SES Remuneration.
