About the Role
Concord Centre for Mental Health is committed to improving mental health for people and our communities by providing quality mental health services in partnership with consumers, families and service providers.You will be part of a team providing high quality, safe, appropriate healthcare, ensuring access to services and working closely with the local community to manage the changing demand for services.
We are seeking Peer Support Workers with lived experience of mental illness and involvement in the justice or forensic mental health. This is a specialist role within our new inpatient forensic unit, where your unique insights and experiences are valued for connection and recovery. Join a well-established lived experience workforce for peer support and workforce development including peer-specific supervision and support to enrol or complete the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
This role will support consumers across four main areas:
Developing good physical and mental health.
Access to housing, employment and education.
Re-discovering a sense of purpose and personal identity.
Forming active connections to the community of the consumers' choice.

Ideal Candidate
Lived experience of mental distress and demonstrated experience using recovery principles. A degree in a relevant field is required for payment at Graduate rate.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to plan, implement and evaluate group and individual peer led interventions
Understanding of and commitment to recovery oriented services and consumer involvement in service design, implementation and evaluation.
