Teacher of PE & health, permanent full-time 2026
Westlake Girls High School is a leading secular state girls’ school in New Zealand with more than 2,000 students, situated on Auckland’s North Shore and enjoys a reputation for excellence in academic studies, cultural & sporting activities as well as engagement with the local community. There is an ongoing programme of investment in teaching and facilities across the school.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced teacher of PE & health to join our PE faculty in a permanent, full-time role commencing at the start of the 2026 school year. The successful applicant will have a rich understanding of the curriculum, a growth mindset, the ability to develop and create responsive assessment practices for students and be a collegial and responsive team player.
Our PE faculty is a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive team in a well-resourced and exciting school and is committed to providing the opportunity for every student to reach their personal excellence.
A commitment to mana ōrite mō te mārauranga Māori and cultural responsiveness is essential.
Applicants are expected to participate in the extensive co-curricular life of the school.
Contract and remuneration will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers’ CA as assessed by the Salary Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Education. Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications. Hours of work will be full time as set out in the STCA.
Entry requirements:
To become a secondary teacher, you need to have one of the following at Level 7 or above of the NZQF
A specialist subject degree followed by a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) or a Master of Teaching (Secondary).
A Bachelor of Education (Technology)
A Bachelor of Teaching conjoint degree (a combination of teaching and specialist subjects).
