People Advisor

As a People Advisor you will deliver high volume organisational-wide People Advisory support as part of our People Shared-Services team. If you enjoy leading others, improving ways of working, and delivering practical customer service at scale, this role is for you.
The Role
Reporting to the People Advisory Lead, the People Advisor is the first point of contact for employees and frontline leaders, delivering timely, high quality and employee centred support. You will resolve straightforward matters at first contact using clear policies and processes, while knowing when to escalate more complex issues to specialist teams.
Your focus will be on volume, quality, speed and experience, while ensuring effective triaging and escalation of complex matters to specialist teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide timely, practical and trusted people advice, grounded in policy, awards and legislation
Be the front door to People support by managing the People Advisory inbox and HR Helpline, triaging queries and resolving matters with confidence and care
Support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and contract variations through to parental leave and offboarding
Assist with performance, engagement and compliance processes, helping leaders and employees navigate these moments well
Maintain accurate people records, dashboards and advisory metrics, contributing to transparency and informed decision‑making
Support key compliance checks, including visas, licences and qualifications
Apply clear escalation frameworks, handing over complex matters with well‑documented context and judgement
Contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, procedures, tools and self‑help resources, making People support easier to access and use
Deliver a professional, approachable and customer‑focused experience, building trust with every interaction
What You’ll Bring
A tertiary qualification in HR or a related discipline (preferred) along with experience in a HR advisory or generalist role
Experience in applying a working knowledge of employment legislation, awards and industrial instruments
Significant experience in operationalizing people processes in a team environment
Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
Experience in a unionised environment and multiple industrial instruments
Ability to advise leaders on performance management and employee lifecycle activities using relevant tools and processes
