Job Description
Work alongside the People and Culture Manager, Editorial to provide operational support to Guardian Australia's (GA) editorial department on the end-to-end employee life cycle and core people processes including but not limited to: administration, coordinating recruitment processes, facilitating employee onboarding, maintaining of employee records, co-managing the HR inbox, assisting with the ongoing implementation and operation of the global HRIS, Oracle.
This role will contribute to GA's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) agenda as well as support the P&C team in the delivery of a range of P&C projects and initiatives.

HR Operations
Provide full-cycle recruitment activity for editorial including advertising, shortlisting, applicant tracking maintenance, interview scheduling, reference checking, contract drafting and processing new starter paperwork and ensuring all recruitment practices adhere to Guardian Australia's recruitment policy.
Oversee the onboarding process for editorial new starters including working with IT, P&C and leaders to ensure new starters are set up appropriately, completing orientations, facilitating compliance training and taking all new starters through key policies and procedures .
Provide administrative support to the editorial P&C Manager with cyclical P&C activities including, editorial remuneration review, employee engagement, gender reporting, P&C reporting etc.
Support coordination of editorial performance appraisals.
Support with the coordination of learning and development activity for editorial, including day to day training logistics.
Advise editorial employees on leave entitlements and other core benefits, including researching and promoting new schemes/initiatives.
Respond to editorial employee queries confidentially, alerting/escalating to the Managing Editor or P&C Manager as appropriate.
Ensure flexible working requests are dealt with in a timely manner and manage administration associated with parental leave requests.
Promote a safe and secure workplace; organise ergonomic assessments, administer workers compensation claims and develop staff rehabilitation plans as needed.
Apply Awards/ National Employment Standards (NES) and enterprise agreements and interpret as required. Keep up to date with IR changes and developments.
Alongside the P&C Manager, review and update employee-related policies and procedures and keep employee site up to date.
Maintain employee records so that information is accurate and secure.
Diversity & inclusion
Support the implementation of GA's diversity and inclusion strategy.
Where relevant, coordinate and attend D&I working group and committee meetings, taking meeting minutes, organising agendas and meeting materials and ensuring actions are followed through and deadlines are met.
Drive forward the D&I strategy and champion initiatives across the organisation.
Collaborate with P&C team to implement department led wellness, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Monitor key dates in the calendar such as National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, Mental Health Week & International Women's Day and work proactively to assist with the administration and delivery of associated events.
Support the implementation of inclusive work practices and policies in collaboration with the P&C team.
Assist with the administration and delivery of diversity and inclusion events.
Knowledge and experience
Minimum 3 years HR experience, ideally as an HR Administrator or HR Coordinator with experience gained in a high volume, transactional environment
Experience working within, or appreciation of, working within a busy media organisation
Understanding of sensitivities surrounding information going into the public domain
Experience of stakeholder management and working with challenging stakeholders
Experience of working in a unionised environment preferred
A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and knowledge of employment law/legislation
Experience in recruitment and selection practices
Experience working as part of a team in a professional environment
Demonstrable track record in working in a fast-paced, high volume role
Experience dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders and situations
Previous experience of working in the diversity and inclusion space highly desirable
Knowledge and interest in current affairs
An interest in, and understanding of the Guardian brand
