We’re opening a brand-new Mitre 10 MEGA in Prestons, Christchurch, and we’re looking for an experienced People & Capability Manager to lead our people strategy and help build a high-performing, customer-focused team of around 80 team members.
This is a key leadership role in our senior management team, with direct responsibility for the Customer Service and Checkout departments.
What you’ll be doing:
Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and induction of approximately 80 new team members.
Design and implement a comprehensive training and development programme to support team success from day one.
Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to direct reports in Customer Service and Checkout.
Drive a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture across the store.
Manage core HR functions including performance management, employee relations, and compliance.
Partner with the Store Manager and senior team to deliver on strategic people initiatives.
What you’ll bring:
Proven experience in a senior HR, People & Capability, or similar leadership role.
Strong background in recruitment, training, and team development.
Comprehensive understanding of NZ employment law
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence and inspire.
Experience in retail or a fast-paced customer service environment is a plus.
