About Me:

My health declined a few years ago which has proved a significant barrier in engaging in many things I used to do that matter to me, and with my community. I benefit from a calm & gentle environment. I love my dog, nature, music and creativity, good food and holistic therapies. I am a left wing person who cares for the environment & fairness for all. These things really matter to me & are important when it comes to engaging with others.

I’m living with multiple chronic health conditions (including ME/CFS, POTS, EDS, Long Covid, Autism, ADHD, CPTSD, gynaecological and cardiac conditions) that affect my physical and mental health.

About the Role :

I’m looking for a PA who can offer practical and emotional support to help me to re-engage with various activities that are important to me and help me to stay connected to community.

My mental and physical health benefit from connecting with nature and breathing fresh air away from the pollution surrounding my flat. As I do not drive I require someone who can accompany me to access these spaces.

My condition can fluctuate and I use various mobility aids accordingly. I would need assistance at times to use these and to choose which one is suitable for that moment.

It is necessary to have a good understanding and experience of neurodivergence and the emotional challenges that can come with this.

I can really struggle with my memory, brain fog, executive functioning, overwhelm & keeping on top of admin - an individual who can feel confident in organisational skills to calmly assist around this is important. With this requires being able to remember things well & using initiative to adapt to different situations & tasks according to day, whilst foremost prioritising my wellbeing.

An awareness of & sensitivity around navigating the complexities & restrictions faced with various services that need to be accessed by someone with complex needs.

You’ll be supporting me with day-to-day living, including (but not limited to);

Prompts and support with eating, drinking, and medication

Meal prep/cooking (incl. batch cooking)

Light cleaning eg. laundry, bins

Support with organising/decluttering

Shopping

Reassurance and encouragement with showering/bathing and assisting me if I am to get a symptom flare up during.

Planning and attending appointments

Physically assisting with mobility aids and wheelchair use

Dog walking (occasional)

Admin tasks and communication support with various services that are ongoing.

Helping me manage energy and reduce overwhelm

You’ll Need To Be:

Calm, compassionate, patient, and adaptable

Neurodivergence experienced

Familiar with chronic illness and fluctuating energy/symptoms

Covid/contagious illness-conscious and mindful of health vulnerabilities

A good communicator, organised, and comfortable advocating when needed

Able to drive with access to your own car (Clean Air Zone exempt priority)

Able to work collaboratively (especially if employed alongside another PA)

Hours - 15.5 per week

(Possibility to share with another PA, and hours may get increased dependent on social care review outcome); ideally includes Mondays. Flexibility available.

Occasional extra hours on an ad-hoc basis.

Pay: £12.60/hour (weekday rate)

Location: St Pauls, Bristol

Enhanced DBS check required
