Job Description
The Paralegal supports attorneys and clients throughout litigation by managing discovery, court filings, scheduling, and case documentation with accuracy, professionalism, and strict attention to deadlines. This role ensures cases progress efficiently and remain well-organized from initiation through trial preparation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Client Communication & Case Support
● Contact clients via phone or email to provide case updates
. ● Prepare clients for depositions, mediations, and other litigation events.
● Document all client communications promptly and accurately in the case management system.
● Confirm appointments with clients, attorneys, and witnesses. Discovery & Document Management
● Draft basic discovery responses, subpoenas, and initial complaints.
● Track discovery deadlines and follow up on outstanding items.
● Organize and store discovery documents according to firm protocols.
● Accurately log case-related expenses in the case management system.
● Review and summarize medical records and bills to support litigation. Calendaring & Scheduling
● Schedule hearings, depositions, and mediations.
● Update the litigation calendar with court dates, filing deadlines, and other critical dates.
● Add important dates based on incoming emails and e-filings. Court Filings & Trial Preparation
● Electronically file court documents and save them in the correct case folder.
● Maintain organized digital and physical case files.
● Assemble trial binders, exhibits, and deposition packets.
● Coordinate with witnesses on availability and logistics. ● Assist attorneys in preparing court materials.
● Follow up on service after filing initial complaints. Team Collaboration
● Provide support to other paralegals with overflow work as needed.
Metrics for Success
● Documentation Accuracy: 98%+ accuracy in case file organization and client communication entries.
● Deadline Compliance: 100% of discovery and court deadlines met without extension requests.
● Filing Efficiency: All court filings completed and saved within 24 hours of submission.
● Trial Readiness: All trial materials prepared and confirmed complete at least 3 business days before trial.
Supervisory Responsibilities
● None.
Qualifications
● Proven experience as a paralegal, preferably in litigation.
● Knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and discovery processes.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
● Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Proficiency in case management software and calendaring systems.
● Strong computer skills including:

Email platforms
● Bilingual – Spanish/English highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to remain seated for extended periods for drafting, reviewing, and filing documents.
● Regular use of hands for document preparation, filing, and computer work.
● Clear verbal communication for client, attorney, and witness interactions.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
