Educational responsibilities
Responsibilities include physician order review, clarification, modification and verification in the oncology CPOE system, OPIS; drug dispensing and/or supervision of such tasks by pharmacy technicians; answering drug related questions; provision of pharmaceutical care; medication reconciliation; patient counseling; participation in the education of students and multidisciplinary staff. This position involves order review and patient contact in the retail pharmacy and chemotherapy unit as well as supervision of students providing clinical services to patients in the chemotherapy unit. IV systemic therapy order review and verification will be a responsibility once independence in the retail setting is demonstrated. Other pharmacist duties included are participation in hospital and departmental committees.
Qualifications/Skills
Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
Experience in Odette Cancer Centre pharmacy preferred
Able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Detail-oriented
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated and able to take initiative
Reliable
Customer service skills and empathetic manner
Knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy computer system and retail pharmacy practice an asset
Excellent verbal and written English skills
