Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the pharmacy technician team lead and pharmacists, the pharmacy technician II is responsible for preparing unit dose medications, compounding sterile preparations, and delivering medication to patient care units

Perform all pharmacy technician I responsibilities such as: Prepares non-sterile admixtures, including hazardous medications; Perform computer entry for missing doses, patient charges and credits, and other documentation; Deliver or restock medications; deliver pharmacist code box; assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and organization of work areas and maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups

Prepares parenteral products under the direction of a pharmacist

Utilizing aseptic technique adhering to USP 7+7 guidelines in accordance with policy

Maintains competency and aseptic technique validation per departmental policy

Prepares non-sterile admixtures, including hazardous medications

Answers phone calls and responds to the needs of the caller and/or directs them to the appropriate person for service

Ensure compounding/clean room areas and related equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures

Delivers controlled substance medications to patient care areas according to Pharmacy guidelines and standards operating procedures

Replenishes medication carts and automated dispensing cabinets

Checks and maintains inventory levels; checks for expired/unusable products and disposes of them properly

Attains/maintains knowledge of all pharmacy computer systems, including electronic medical records (EMR), from the standpoint of a user of the system

Performs job responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives, and environmental and infection control standards

Performs other related duties as assigned

This is a Full Time Evenings Shift position

Understands how own duties relate to others in the team and has an awareness of how the team integrates with others

Manages own workload by applying an understanding of team priorities; may provide assistance to less experienced colleagues
