Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and qualified Physical Education Teacher to inspire students towards lifelong health, fitness, and well-being. The ideal candidate will develop and implement a dynamic PE curriculum that promotes physical activity, skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices for students in grades [Specify Grade Levels, e.g., K-5, 6-8, +-12]. This role requires creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where all students feel encouraged and empowered to participate.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate, and standards-based (e.g., SHAPE America) physical education lessons.
Teach fundamental motor skills, movement concepts, game strategies, and various sports/activities (e.g., team sports, individual sports, fitness activities, dance, aquatics if applicable).
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and interests of all students.
Integrate health education concepts (nutrition, injury prevention, benefits of exercise) into the PE curriculum.
Safety & Environment:
Establish and enforce clear safety rules, procedures, and protocols for all activities and facilities.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment.
Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and facilities.
Administer basic first aid and CPR as needed (training provided/maintained).
Assessment & Reporting:
Assess student progress in skill development, knowledge, participation, effort, and sportsmanship using a variety of methods.
Provide constructive feedback to students to support their growth.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and achievement.
Prepare and communicate student progress reports and grades according to school policy.
Student Engagement & Inclusion:
Foster a love for physical activity and a positive attitude towards fitness.
Promote teamwork, cooperation, fair play, respect, and positive social interactions.
Create an inclusive environment that values diversity and ensures all students, regardless of ability level, feel successful and welcome.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and health staff.
Communicate proactively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program activities.
Participate actively in department meetings, school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development.
