Key Responsibilities
• Curriculum Development: Design and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that align with national and state standards.
• Instruction: Teach a variety of sports, physical activities, and health education topics to students of different ages and skill levels.
• Assessment: Evaluate students' physical abilities, motor skills, and knowledge of health and fitness. Provide regular feedback and assess progress.
• Classroom Management: Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
• Equipment Management: Maintain and organize sports equipment, and ensure that all equipment is safe and in good condition.
• Extracurricular Activities: Organize and supervise extracurricular sports teams, clubs, and fitness activities.
• Health and Safety: Promote and teach students about the importance of physical health, nutrition, and overall wellness. Ensure all activities are conducted safely.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in physical education.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration to integrate physical education with the broader school curriculum and community.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation. Prepare reports for parents and school administration as needed.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. A teaching credential or certification in physical education is required.
