Operating out of seven community sites across the city of Calgary and surrounding areas of Cochrane, Airdrie, and Chestermere, the Pediatric Community Rehabilitation Program provides services to children and youth that align with provincial health priorities. If you are dynamic physiotherapist who loves to work with children and is seeking a leadership role, this position might be just what you are looking for! As one of our clinical leaders, you will support front line clinical physiotherapy practice and program managers. This position carries a clinical caseload, supports clinical physiotherapy practice through the development of clinical practice standards and promotion of best practice methods, and collaborates with the management team to assess, coordinate, implement and evaluate services. Physiotherapists provide assessment and intervention services to children working both independently and as part of an inter-professional team. Our team members work collaboratively to provide services grounded in best practice and work closely with families in a family centered care model. The scope of practice in this community program ranges from basic to advanced in a variety of intervention areas. As a new team member, you will be supported by other program clinical practice leaders, zone and provincial practice leaders and program managers. Our therapists are involved in a variety of programs and evening work may be required.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Minimum five (5) years pediatric experience in a pediatric rehab setting. Experience in coaching and performance management. Experience supporting service planning for complex needs. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with families, program staff and community partners. Superior clinical judgement, critical thinking skills and ability to integrate new learning. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Self-direction, independent problem solving and decision-making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic, fast paced, multidisciplinary environment. Actively integrate patient and family centered care principles in all areas of practice including clinical decision-making and effective communication. Create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Values of AHS: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety. Experience in Program Development.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Therapist Assistants. Experience supervising students. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience working with a pediatric population. Experience with Torticollis & Plagiocephaly. Experience working with a variety of childhood neurodevelopmental conditions and intervention approaches.
