Job Overview
Emotive Music Studio is seeking a passionate and driven Piano Instructor to join our in-home (and remote) lesson service based in Northeast Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have strong piano and personal skills. Prior teaching experience is ideal but not required. This role involves instructing students of various ages, from early childhood to adults, fostering a love of music while supporting their individual learning needs. The Piano Instructor will create engaging lesson plans, adapt teaching methods to different skill levels, and contribute to a positive and inspiring learning environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and effective private piano lessons for children, teens, and adults
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans tailored to students’ skill levels and goals
Manage interpersonal dynamics to ensure a respectful, creative, and supportive atmosphere
Assess student progress regularly and adjust lesson plans accordingly
Incorporate elements of music theory, technique, and performance preparation into lessons
Foster a love for music through creative teaching methods and enthusiasm
Collaborate with parents or guardians to communicate student achievements and areas for improvement
Participate in yearly recitals to showcase student progress
Requirements
Strong proficiency at the piano including reading music, music theory and ear training, sight-reading, transcription skills (melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic dictation), stylistic diversity (classical, pop, jazz)
Experience in piano instruction is preferred but not required
Experience working with children is strongly preferred
Ability to adapt teaching methods for adult education or special education needs
Management skills to create an organized and motivating learning environment
Knowledge of behavior management techniques suitable for young learners
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and parents
Passion for fostering development through music education and creativity
Reliable method of transportation
