Job Summary: Picture Desk Editors are responsible for receiving, editing and distributing content to the global market under constant deadlines while ensuring quality and timely distribution. Editors must be the final gatekeepers of editorial integrity. This position is capable of handling live and non- live workflows depending on assignment. Picture Desk Editors support major events on site if needed. Working nights and weekends are required.

Roles And Responsibilities

 Accurately and quickly review and edit images to confirm to client Images guidelines; assign ranking and routing information to designate where an image is sent

 Must maintain high level of journalistic knowledge and awareness on current news, sports and entertainment events throughout the world

 Demonstrate and exercise solid news judgment  Prioritize images according to relevancy and deadlines

 Liaise with photographers or image partners to review test images, confirm submissions and provide feedback on image quality, proper metadata standards and comprehensiveness of edit

 Work closely with Assignment Editors and provide support to editors working in the field

 Monitor instant message and e-mail traffic from internal staff and external sources and respond accordingly

 Exercise solid judgment calls on escalating any variety of issues through the proper channels

 Monitor Editorial website and execute updates, error corrections, thumbnail changes, and featured stories throughout shift to keep site current and timely What You’ll Need:

 Minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in editorial photography industry

 Degree preferred

 Commitment to editorial integrity

 Solid news and picture judgment

 Acute awareness of global news, sport, and entertainment events

 Ability to prioritize heavy workload and meet strict client deadlines in a global environment

 Ability to work accurately and efficiently in fast-paced environment, to multitask while maintaining thorough attention to detail

 Knowledge of photography and digital imaging; experience with industry-standard editing tools, Photoshop and asset management software

 Proficiency in Windows- and Mac OS X-based systems and applications

 Demonstrated knowledge of industry style of captioning and metadata standards; excellent writing skills, spelling and grammar
