BASIC PURPOSE
The copywriter is the steward of PSTA’s brand voice, lending their expertise to all PSTA written materials. We want to tell stories and create awareness about PSTA’s innovative programs and transportation solutions, and the copywriter holds the pen on these efforts.
This is a part-time position, not to exceed 24 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Writing clear and error-free content that reflects the PSTA’s brand voice and speaks to the intended target audience for a specific piece.
Working collaboratively with Digital Marketing Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, and Marketing Manager to pitch ideas and develop content that supports PSTA’s strategic communications and marketing goals.
Interpreting creative brief, direction from stakeholders and Marketing Manager, and technical information and turning them into persuasive copy concepts
Working with clients to edit and modify copy to meet their content expectations
Ability to quickly learn and understand new industries, projects, and concepts to communicate with key audiences as effectively as possible.
Adapting to various audiences, including:
+ Transit riders interested in PSTA services
+ Pinellas County residents and voters
+ Governmental and business stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Creative Writing, or similar, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Prefer at least one year writing experience in a marketing agency or as a freelance copywriter. Please include samples or a portfolio link with your attached resume.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Writing for multiple deliverables and channels, including:
+ Printed content: flyers, postcards, signage, mailers, one-pagers
+ Digital content: web content, blogs, social media posts
+ Public relations content: press releases, speeches, ghost-written quotes and op-ed articles
+ Support content editing and narratives for award applications, grant applications, and political/advocacy needs
Skilled in
+ Grammatically correct writing that balances creativity, storytelling, and effective communication of complex topics
+ Content marketing and social media best practices
+ Brand voice development
Abilities
+ Deadline oriented with ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines; ability to quickly adapt to changing needs and circumstances; working in a team.
+ Must be able to collaborate with leadership and receive constructive feedback on all pitch ideas and edit notes.
