Role Title : Piping Manager
Position Overview
This role is crucial for ensuring the successful design, installation, and operation of piping systems in petrochemical processing units
Key Responsibilities :
Project Planning and Execution :
• Develop and manage piping project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to ensure seamless integration of piping systems.
• Oversee the design, procurement, and installation of piping systems.
Design and Engineering :
• Ensure piping designs comply with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASTM, ASME, API).
• Review and approve piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and material specifications.
• Conduct 3D model reviews and ensure accurate layout of piping systems.
Team Management :
• Lead and mentor a team of piping engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide technical guidance.
• Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
Quality Control and Safety :
• Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA / QC) procedures.
• Ensure all piping work adheres to safety standards and protocols.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination :
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of piping materials and equipment.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Manage change orders and variations in project scope.
Documentation and Reporting :
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, and as-built drawings.
• Report project status to senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensure proper documentation of all project phases for future reference.
Educational Qualification :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience :
Minimum of 13 years of experience in piping design and project management within the Chemical, Petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
Technical Competencies / Skills :
Proficiency in piping design software AutoCAD, PDMS, Caesar II, CADWorx, or similar tools
Strong understanding of industry codes and standards ASME, ANSI, and API, with experience in designing piping systems for hazardous materials.
Excellent project management and leadership skills.
Familiarity with project management principles and practices, including scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management.
Behavioural Competencies :
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.
