Job Title: Planning & Development Control Engineer/Technician/Graduate Engineer
The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through Scotland's scenic landscapes.
This includes 1,501 bridges and structures, such as the Kessock Bridge carrying the A+ north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing.
The Planning & Development Control Engineer/Technician/Graduate Engineer will work with the Planning and Development Control Team to:
Liaise with developers and Transport Scotland on planning applications.
Prepare and administer Minutes or Letters of Agreement and Road Bonds.
Conduct Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) design checks on third-party works.
Check New Roads and Street Works Act 1++1 (NRSWA) compliance for statutory and non-statutory undertakers.
The role requires strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and a good understanding of relevant legislation and design standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Qualified to HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
Familiarity with Roads (Scotland) Act 1+84 and New Roads and Street Works Act 1++1.
Working knowledge of current DMRB and other design standards.
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to solve problems and assist with correspondence.
