Job description
Mokena, IL, population 1+,887, is a family-oriented suburban community with outstanding schools, parks, and excellent municipal services, located approximately 35 miles southwest of Chicago, in northeast Will County. The Village of Mokena is seeking a self-motivated, highly collaborative, and innovative problem-solver to serve as a Planning Technician.

The Planning Technician is responsible for reviewing and processing a wide variety of development proposals and land use requests, including (but not limited to) zoning permit applications, variations, Special Use Permits, and Planned Unit Developments. The Planning Technician is supervised by the Community Development Director and Assistant Director. The position serves as staff liaison to the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals and Site Plan & Architectural Review Committee. This position requires excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills because the Planning Technician is responsible for preparing initial reports and presentations to each governing body and Village Board. Master’s degree and/or AICP certification is preferred, but not required.
