About the role
Our goal is to make paying super effortless for employers, and you can help us lighten the load for employers all over Australia. As a Platform Engineer - Beam, you’ll be instrumental in creating and maintaining an internal developer platform that streamlines software delivery, enhances engineering experience, and ensures performance, reliability, and security. You’ll work within a hybrid team to implement release and deployment automation, configure infrastructure, and troubleshoot issues to maintain platform performance.
You’ll collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions and contribute to the continuous improvement of our platform engineering practices.
Day to day, you'll:
Create and maintain high-quality DevOps solutions with scalability, fault tolerance, and security in mind.
Empower developers with self-service tools and workflows that accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
Configure infrastructure, servers, databases, and cloud services to support application performance.
Monitor and test platform reliability, scalability, and security.
Develop technical standards, documentation, and assurance processes.
Identify opportunities for automation and optimisation across the platform.
This role is available as a permanent opportunity.
Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
About you
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
You’ve built and maintained internal developer platforms that improve engineering experience and streamline deployment.
You’re confident with Terraform or similar IaC tools and can design infrastructure that’s scalable, secure, and resilient.
You’re hands-on with scripting languages and frameworks, and you know how to automate CI/CD pipelines and containerisation workflows.
You’ve worked with REST APIs, microservices, and serverless architecture, and you understand how to optimise performance in cloud environments.
You’re familiar with Azure services like Functions and Storage, and you bring a DevOps mindset to everything you do.
You’re a natural problem-solver with strong debugging skills and a keen eye for detail.
You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and know how to document and share knowledge.
Bonus points if you’ve worked with Apigee API proxies, Java API management, or have experience with monitoring tools like Grafana or Datadog.
