Job Title: Ward Boy/Ward Attendant
Overview: As a Ward Boy or Ward Attendant, you play a vital role in supporting the operations of a healthcare facility, such as hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes. Your primary responsibilities involve providing assistance to nursing and medical staff in delivering patient care, maintaining cleanliness and organization within the ward, and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.
Key Responsibilities
• Patient Support: Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and ambulation, while respecting their privacy, dignity, and cultural preferences.
• Transport: Safely transfer patients to and from various locations within the facility, including examination rooms, operating theaters, diagnostic imaging departments, and rehabilitation areas.
• Vital Signs Monitoring: Assist healthcare providers in measuring and recording patients' vital signs, such as temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Bedside Assistance: Help patients with positioning, turning, and repositioning in bed to prevent pressure ulcers and promote comfort and circulation.
• Environmental Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in patient rooms, common areas, and equipment storage areas, following established infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
• Supply Management: Stock patient rooms and supply areas with essential items, such as linens, blankets, towels, toiletries, and medical supplies, ensuring adequate availability and proper storage.
• Equipment Handling: Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of medical equipment and devices, such as oxygen tanks, suction machines, IV pumps, and patient monitoring systems, under the direction of qualified personnel.
• Patient Transport: Accompany patients during transfers to other departments or external facilities, providing reassurance, comfort, and assistance as needed.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members, conveying information accurately and promptly, and reporting any concerns or observations to the appropriate personnel.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as cardiac arrests, falls, or medical crises, following established protocols and providing assistance to healthcare providers as directed.
• Documentation: Record pertinent information, such as patient activities, observations, and interventions, in accordance with facility policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation
