Job Description
G&K Plant & Civil Ltd are recruiting a full time Drainer to fill a permanent role.
G&K Plant & Civil Ltd are a civil construction company located in Western Sydney. Work will be based in the greater Sydney region. The applicant must have adequate experience in the installation of stormwater pipes, pits and water mains as well as conduits and steel piping. The applicant must be able to read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications and be skilled in measuring, cutting and joining pipes. Adhering to safety standards and environmental regulations is important in this role.
Duties & Tasks:
Reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
Marking out and excavating trenches using hand or power tools.
Setting out the layout of the drainage system according to regulations and site plans.
Laying and joining pipes (e.g. PVC, concrete, clay, or metal).
Installing stormwater drains, sewer pipes, and subsoil drainage.
Fitting access points like inspection openings and maintenance shafts.
Connecting drainage systems to mains sewer lines or septic tanks.
Installing gully traps, vents, and other fittings.
Testing pipes for leaks and blockages.
Ensuring all drainage systems comply with relevant building and plumbing codes.
Locating and clearing blockages.
Replacing damaged or worn drainage components.
Conducting routine maintenance on existing systems.
Keeping records of work completed.
Reporting defects or additional work required to supervisors or clients.
Competencies and Skills:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Ability to read and interpret drawings.
Cutting and installation of stormwater pipes, pits and water mains, conduits and steel piping.
Operating and maintaining drainage equipment.
Ability to work as part of a wider team.
