As a Plumbing Designer, you will play a key role in our projects, bringing your practical experience and/or technical expertise to the table. Whether your background is in mechanical building systems design or hands-on plumbing and estimating, you will work within our internal project team during the design process, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and best practices.
Your Roles
Project Design:
- Work within our mechanical and electrical team to deliver great service to our clients;
- Design of building plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, venting, and specialty systems;
- Collaborate with the engineers and designers in the office and with architects, other consultants, owners, and contractors on building designs.
- Prepare and develop construction documentation using REVIT and related design programs; coordinate design with other disciplines;
- Interpret project requirements, drawings, and specifications, incorporating practical construction knowledge into design solutions;
- Work alongside Project Managers, with minimal supervision
- Provide technical support and assistance to engineers and designers
Learning & Development:
- Staying current with industry trends and advancements by attending educational workshops and fostering personal networks.
- Playing an integral role in advancing technical and professional leadership within our firm.
Qualifications: Your Path to Success:
- Candidate must have extremely strong general computer skills and must be able to learn new programs quickly;
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (CET) or Journeyperson Plumber certification with relevant field and/or estimating experience;
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team in a collaborative environment.
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems and Canadian commercial construction practices;
- Ability to apply critical thinking and practical problem-solving to design and constructability;
- Ability to effectively communicate and work as part of a team is essential;
- Candidate must be self-motivated and be able to manage multiple priorities;
- Demonstrated experience with office software such as MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.);
The following qualifications and skills would be considered an asset:
- Registered as a C.E.T with the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM);
- Knowledge of plumbing code and ASPE Standards would be considered an asset;
- Experience with Autodesk Revit;
- Experience with plumbing system design and/or construction in commercial/institutional buildings;
- Estimating or project coordination experience in the construction industry;
- Field experience in plumbing or mechanical construction;
