YouTube Scriptwriter (Pokémon-Focused, Remote – Part-Time)
Channel: SlakSquad
Location: Mostly or Fully Remote — Ideally Near Essex, Vermont
Type: Freelance / Contractor
Pay: Starting at $15-25/hour or negotiable per-video/script rate; by experience
SlakSquad is a growing Pokémon YouTube channel with ~5,000 subscribers and a big vision. We create researched, entertaining content for real Pokémon fans—deep dives, trivia breakdowns, challenge videos, and oddball mechanics that make people think and laugh.
We’re looking for a scriptwriter and collaborator who loves Pokémon (especially modern gens), plays the games, and wants to help us make awesome content on a consistent basis.
This is a freelance, project-based role to start, with flexible hours and the chance to grow into a long-term relationship. Ideally, you're near Essex, VT for occasional in-person collaboration, but remote is totally fine.
What You'll Do:
Write scripts for YouTube videos (usually 500–1000 words per section)
Help brainstorm and outline ideas with our team
Follow a clear formatting and tone guide (casual, researched, funny, never cheesy)
Research topics using trusted sources (Bulbapedia, Serebii, Reddit, etc.)
Write strong intros, video descriptions, titles, and tags with SEO/clickability in mind
Occasionally assist with social posts or short-form content ideas (YouTube Shorts, etc.)
Who This Is For:
You know the modern games... Sun/Moon, Sword/Shield, Legends Arceus, Scarlet/Violet.... and are planning to play Legends ZA
You understand what keeps people watching a video (or you’re eager to learn)
You’re excited to build something sustainable and creative with a small team
Bonus if you’ve written content before, but Pokémon passion matters most.... we can train the rest
Pay & Structure:
Starting at $15/hour, or negotiable flat rate per script/video
Freelance to start, but we’re hoping for recurring work with the right person
Some people want to help build the channel long-term, others need work now; we’re open to both
Please let us know what you're looking for in terms of pay in the application
Don’t meet every single qualification? That’s okay—we care most about passion, writing ability, and Pokémon knowledge. If you're excited about this role, we’d still love to hear from you.
Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required):
Strong writing skills with a natural, human voice
Deep familiarity with modern Pokémon games (Gen 6–+ and upcoming Legends ZA)
Ability to follow a formatting/style guide and meet deadlines
Basic understanding of YouTube content structure (intros, retention, SEO, etc.)
Willingness to learn how to write for short-form and long-form content
Good communication and openness to feedback
Bonus: Experience writing scripts, SEO content, or managing creative projects
