Join New Zealand’s lead operational cyber security agency and play a key part in shaping our future cyber defence capability.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is seeking a Portfolio Lead to lead our team of business analysts and contract project managers as part of our Portfolio & Practice Unit. Your strong programme and project management experience will drive the implementation and evolution of the NCSC’s Portfolio Management practices, delivery of projects and business improvement activities that make a real difference in the cyber defence landscape.
What you’ll do
You will use your skills and knowledge to:
Own the NCSC’s project portfolio practices and templates, including prioritisation and resource allocation.
Continuously assess and refine portfolio strategies to adapt to changing needs.
Manage and present project portfolio reporting.
Provide guidance and advice to project managers about project portfolio practices, principles and tools.
Empower your team to deliver successful projects and business improvement initiatives – and at times deliver your own!
Establish and maintain strong and constructive relationships with key stakeholders across the NCSC and GCSB to support management of the portfolio.
What we’re looking for
Someone with:
Proven experience at a senior level in a Project Management Team Lead role.
Experience in managing and motivating high performing, outcome focused teams.
Understanding of project and/or programme management principles, processes, tools and documentation.
A strong ability to build relationships, work collaboratively with diverse teams and influence at senior levels.

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
