Job Description
The Feinberg School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology at Northwestern University invites applications for postdoctoral candidates with strong research skills and an interest in working in a basic research, preclinical and translational environment. Our lab’s 5 main areas of focus are: a) using topically-delivered nanotechnology towards developing new targeted therapies for skin and corneal disorders; and b) understanding the functions of autophagy in epidermal and corneal biology; c) exploring the roles of microRNAs in epidermal and corneal biology; d) identifying novel regulators in epithelial stem cell biology; and e) explore the pathological mechanisms of chemical burn in cornea using single cell transcriptomic and spatial proteomic approaches. The ideal candidate will have some skills from PhD research or an early postdoctoral fellowship, but will be seeking additional skills through this position. Research projects will involve in vitro work with submerged and 3D cultures of primary human epidermal and corneal epithelial cells as well as work with mouse models of skin and corneal diseases and their assessment using advanced microscopy and biochemistry.
