Senior Database Administrator - Postgre SQL (Contractual Role)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team on a contract or contract-to-hire basis.
About the Role
This individual will work on a range of SQL and PostgreSQL administration tasks, manage Azure SQL databases, and support database migrations, security, and performance tuning for enterprise-grade systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Configure and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL instances across Dev/QA/Production.
• Optimize and redesign database systems to improve performance and support automation.
• Administer PostgreSQL environments – including performance tuning, architecture, and security.
• Provide support for replication, CDC, TDE, and in-transit encryption.
• Perform code reviews and collaborate with developers to enforce SQL best practices.
• Manage database migrations from MSSQL to PostgreSQL.
• Provide on-call support and coordinate with global teams.
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and architectures.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and restoration strategies.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with MSSQL Server database design and optimization.
• 3+ years managing Microsoft Azure database solutions.
• Solid experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, execution plans, and SQL jobs.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL installation, tuning, and management.
• Experience with alternative SQL/NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB, MySQL).
• Comfortable working in Linux environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory / Azure AD for managing database access.
• Background in security-focused database design: RBAC, encryption, auditing.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, C#, etc.)
