The Position
Ashnik is looking for a talented and passionate person to join our Technical Delivery Team in Mumbai.
Qualification and Experience
• 4 to 5 years of hands on administration experience of working on PostgreSQL Database
• Experience of working in a production support environment
• Engineering or Equivalent degree
Essential Experience and Skills
• Install & Configure PostgreSQL, EDB Postgres
• Technical capabilities – PostgreSQL +.x, 10.x, 11.x
• Experience in installation, configuration and maintenance of PostgreSQL from +.5 to 14.x
• Experience of PostgreSQL administration on Linux and Windows
• Experience of backing up and restoring PostgreSQL databases
• Hands-on experience with Database schema creation and performance tuning and ongoing support
• Server tuning
• Troubleshooting of database issues
• Linux Shell Scripting
• Install, configure and maintain Fail Over mechanism
• Backup – restoration, point in time database recovery
• Experience in server-to-server migration
• Experience in migrating oracle databases to Postgres
Responsibilities
• Monitoring database performance to identify slowdowns or potential issues
• Managing users and permissions, including adding new users and removing inactive accounts
• Optimizing queries and handle escalations
• Creating database objects such as tables, views, triggers, and indexes
• Maintaining the database schema, including creating new tables, adding columns to existing tables, and deleting unnecessary tables and data
• Performing regular database backups to ensure data integrity in case of a server crash
• Analyse and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on high profile production databases
• Implement security features
• DR implementation and switch over
• Performing regular scheduled maintenance on the database server, such as vacuum analysis on large tables to remove obsolete data
