Postgres DB / Timeseries DB(QuestDB). Strong knowledge in Indexing, Portioning, Performance Optimization etc.
We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL DBA with deep expertise in PostgreSQL to design, optimize, and manage complex database systems, particularly with large-scale and time-series data workloads. The ideal candidate will have experience in performance tuning, high availability configurations, query optimization, and cloud database operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and manage PostgreSQL clusters (single and replica setups)
• Work with partitioning and indexing strategies for large datasets
• Write and optimize complex time-based queries and work with time-series databases
• Configure and manage WAL buffers, checkpoint settings, and WAL retention for durability and recovery
• Implement database failover handling and recovery mechanisms during data transfers
• Conduct query tuning and performance analysis using real-world metrics
• Manage database partitioning without relying on enterprise versions
• Work with cloud-based DB deployments (AWS RDS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Maintain and scale database indexing as data size grows beyond predefined thresholds
Required Skills:
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (including WAL, replication, clustering)
• Proficiency in Docker and containerized database environments
• Experience with time-series databases (e.g., TimescaleDB or native Postgres)
• Deep understanding of query performance tuning techniques
• Familiarity with WAL (Write Ahead Log), checkpointing, and buffer management
• Knowledge of cloud-native DB services and backup/restore strategies
• Ability to handle high availability and failover scenarios
