The Role

As the Practice Development Nurse, you are employed to facilitate the overall continuing workforce development of nursing staff. You will support the ongoing education, training and continuous professional development of GenesisCare’s nursing workforce. Together with the Head of Nursing and Principal Nurses, you will develop, facilitate, deliver and evaluate a range of multi-professional programmes and teaching sessions that ensure the principles that guide staff development reflect GenesisCare’s commitment to quality, safety and patient experience. What You'll Do

The key emphasis of the role will be to develop, deliver and evaluate cancer and SACT education programs within GCUK., this will involve

engaging with local and national cancer agenda.

lead on developing training and practice development packages and be involved setting up and delivering formal study days

working collaboratively with other oncology nurses and practice development nurses, with the objective of ensuring standardisation and shared competency assessment frameworks

Act as a role model and be highly visible in clinical areas to maximize opportunities for training and educational input across the cancer nursing workforce

Contributing to and developing clinical and education guidelines and protocols where applicable, support with undertaking a training needs analysis and maintain a register of training and competency assessment

Mentoring and supporting new and existing staff through education and clinical skills-based training in a variety of locations, empowering them to develop their own practice

Assist in the development of new learning materials and on-going review of existing resources to ensure they meet the required learning outcomes

Actively participate in audit and service improvement activity to improve patient care and outcomes

Communicate effectively within the team and to wider stakeholders, driving service improvement through effective clinical leadership

Maintain own professional competency in relation to your areas of expertise

Ensure compliance with the Health and Social Care Act regulations 2010.

Work clinically supporting education and development across the network (Approx 40% of role)

What You'll Have

Experience and skills:

Significant post-registration experience in the speciality

Clinical credibility – regarded as a successful clinician by peers or supervisors

Teaching and presenting to staff

Experience of managing own workload

Excellent verbal and written communication

Excellent interpersonal skills

Problem-solver/Lateral thinker

Excellent time management

Ability to demonstrate understanding of the current issues affecting cancer services including Clinical Governance

Able to produce structured and relevant reports

Able to demonstrate success in managing and motivating people

Qualifications And Knowledge

RGN first level nurse

Bachelor’s degree in nursing

ILS Certificate

UKONS SACT Passport

Post registration qualification in Specialty

Knowledge of clinical audit, evidence-based practice, and research

Computer literate

Mentor/teaching qualification

Masters level study (Desirable)
