Youth Justice provides community-based supervision and case management services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Koori Court and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on Youth Justice supervised orders, including supervised bail. Youth Justice promotes the rehabilitation of young people involved in offending, with the aim of reducing crime in the community.

The Victorian Government has announced funding to establish a two-year metropolitan-based trial, the Enhanced Bail Supervision and Support (EBSS), to enhance Youth Justice's capacity to monitor and support young people on bail. The EBSS model is underpinned by the existing Youth Justice Case Management framework which prioritises:

partnering with children, families and community supports to promote rehabilitation
addressing criminogenic risk and needs to reduce the likelihood of re-offending
utilising strengths based and culturally supported approaches
The Practice Lead sits within the broader Youth Justice Bail and Court Advice team and will provide expertise in case management practice.

The role is responsible for:

Supporting EBSS suitability assessments and delivering high-quality, specialised court advice.
Providing practice guidance and operational support in a collaborative co-case management model for young people on EBSS, working closely with Youth Justice Case Managers and Case Officers.
Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships by leading the coordination of care teams and managing complex care team practice.
Providing feedback to Team Managers and General Managers, regarding training, policy and practice evaluation and improvement processes for the EBSS service.
Providing oversight and supervision of a small team of Case Officers, who are responsible for providing technical expertise on electronic monitoring and conducting case support work with young people and their families (including after-hours).
The Practice Lead has oversight of a case support service delivered by staff working outside of usual business hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. The incumbent will be required to work flexible hours of work, particularly within the ordinary span of hours of 7am to 7pm, to ensure an appropriate level of engagement with staff across the service and to support service delivery as required.

There are 2 Practice Lead positions available:

2 x position based in Dandenong with travel required across the Southern Metro Region

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work, Criminology or Diploma in Community Services Work is desirable.
A full Victorian driver's licence is required due to the need to travel within the state.
A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
