Are you passionate about supporting students and building strong relationships with stakeholders? The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland is seeking a Practicum Placement Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate the placement, progress, and outcomes of practical work (practicum, internship, etc.) to ensure students meet the requirements of their professional programmes and progress toward graduation.
You will provide efficient and professional administrative support for the practicum placement component, maintain strong relationships with external placement providers, and contribute to continuous service delivery improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and administer student clinical placements, practicums, internships, and related practical work across multiple disciplines and sites.
Liaise with Schools, Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora, and community partners to coordinate teaching sessions, placement activities, and orientation events.
Maintain accurate records of placement allocations, outcomes, and student progression.
Ensure timely collection of provider verification for placement completion and update student records.
Organise and support assessments, examinations, and course-related administrative processes.
Advise students on practical work requirements and expectations.
Support student pastoral care and wellbeing in line with the NZQA Pastoral Care Code of Practice and University guidelines.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with external placement providers and internal academic and service staff.
Support the development of services and improvement to systems, ensuring consistent placement processes.
Actively promote the University’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity outcomes for staff and students.
