As a Home Helper, you will provide invaluable assistance to our clients, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life at home. Your duties will range from helping your client with their daily routines, companionship and household tasks to supporting with shopping and attending appointments. No two days are the same, and the personal satisfaction from knowing you've really helped someone brings unmatched happiness.

Facilities include woodland and outdoor classroom space, high specification sensory room and swimming pool.

Our IMS provision caters for students aged 3—19 years with neurological motor impairment such as Cerebral Palsy and associated medical and sensory needs. Following the Conductive Education approach, Ingfield Manor School focuses on the holistic development of everyone, including their physical and communication skills. About The Role

Job Title: Premises & Grounds Assistant

Reporting To: Premises Lead

Location: Ingfield Manor School

Hours: 30 hours per week, across 4 days (52 weeks per year)

Salary: £19,047 – £19,656 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Premises & Grounds Assistant to join our dedicated team at Ingfield Manor School. This hands-on role involves supporting the upkeep, safety, and presentation of the school’s buildings and grounds, helping to create a secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The position includes a variety of physical tasks, such as general maintenance, lifting and handling equipment, and outdoor work in all seasons.

Key Responsibilities

Premises Maintenance

• Carry out minor repairs, decorating, and general maintenance across the site.

• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.

• Monitor the condition of buildings, fixtures, and furniture.

• Report any faults, damage, or safety concerns promptly.

Grounds Maintenance

• Perform routine grounds care including mowing, strimming, and weeding.

• Ensure outdoor areas are clean and free from litter and waste.

• Assist with snow and ice clearance during winter months.

Security

• Support with opening and locking school buildings.

• Check doors, windows, gates, and alarms to maintain site security.

• Patrol the premises regularly and report any suspicious activity.

• Assist with car park safety during student drop-off and pick-up times.

Health & Safety

• Adhere to health and safety regulations and report hazards or incidents.

• Complete compliance and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.

Swimming Pool Maintenance

• Help maintain the school’s swimming pool and surrounding area.

• Conduct regular water quality checks (e.g., pH and chlorine levels).

• Report any damage or safety issues.

Vehicle Maintenance

• Perform basic checks on school vehicles (e.g., oil, tyres, lights).

• Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and ready for use.

• Arrange MOTs and servicing in line with legal requirements.

• Keep accurate records of vehicle usage and maintenance.

• Drive school vehicles when required, following road safety regulations.

Cleaning & Waste Management

• Support with cleaning tasks as needed, including windows and external areas.

• Ensure waste is collected and disposed of appropriately.

Training

• Complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.

• Participate in ongoing health and safety and equipment training.
