Under general supervision from the Principal of Primary School, a preschool and pre-kindergarten teacher plan and instruct students by taking the approved curriculum goals, standards, learning objectives and experiences that will contribute to the development of skills and academic achievement. The teacher must understand teamwork and attitude that exemplifies a genuine love for children and God.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHING POSITION:

· Bachelor’s degree in education

or

· Teaching certification

or

· Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate

· Prior teaching preferred

· Certified in CPR/AED/First Aid preferred

Specific Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Plans and implements developmentally appropriate lessons and learning experiences.

· Ensures facilities, materials, and equipment are always well maintained and clean.

· Communicates with families, students, administration, and colleagues in a professional manner.

· Ensures appropriate supervision of children.

· Establishes routines and provides positive guidance.

· Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with families, students, and colleagues.

· Observes children and makes notes of progress.

· Develops and maintains current, accurate, and confidential files.

· Participates in school and community activities.

· Follows school and childcare licensing policies and procedures and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.

· Participates in professional learning opportunities and monthly faculty meetings.

· Develops daily activity plans, weekly parent newsletters, and monthly activity calendars.
