PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER IN TEST

Principal Software Engineer in Test for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility. The individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. Candidate must be willing to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, team environment. The Principal Engineer frequently interacts with Tech Lead, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
A Day in the Life
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete ownership for preparing test automation solution, designing automation frameworks and lead the implementation of test strategy, test plans & test execution of the product.
• Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
• Guide project test engineering decisions and direction.
• Take the high level requirements and independently complete test development per the defined processes.
• Design and execute project test plans and strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to strategize as per the roadmap.
• Helps to get team unblocked on complex technical issues.
• Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development process, for the verification of software requirements.
• Learn and understand software standards for Medical devices, ex. IEC62304.
• Support test infrastructure set up and test tool development, such as test tools, stubs, Hardware/Firmware simulators and emulators.
• Establish and maintain traceability from software requirements to verification test design and implementation.
• Design and execute tests using automated test tools, as well as Manual test development process, for the verification of software requirements.
• Participate in the technical reviews of software requirements and peer verification test development.
• Recommend new tools, techniques and methodology for improving quality and productivity.
• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
• Manage deliverables independently.
Education:
• Required: Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.
• Preferred: Maters in Engineering or Masters in Technology Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.
Required Experience:
B.E/BTech. and 14+ years of experience (or ME/MTech in computers science and 12+ years)
Required Skills/Competencies:
• 14+ years of software industry experience primarily in Software Testing Manual and Automation
• 5+ years of experience in Software/Test framework Design & architecture
• Proficiency with one or more following programming languages: Java, C#, Java Script, python
• Experience in working in a mobile environment with both Android and iOS
• Expertise in Design & development of Test Automation for Mobile application and web applications.
• Expertise in developing automation using Appium and Selenium.
• 5+ years of experience in leading, mentoring and coaching software test teams.
• Experience in preparing test strategy, test plans & test execution of product.
• Experience of working with Hybrid and Native mobile applications.
• Experience with software version control tools
• Hands on experience with Test Management and Defect Management tools preferably Microsoft Test Manager
• Experience in both Agile and Waterfall software development methods.
• Effectively communicate and operate within a cross-functional work environment (software verification and development engineers, system engineers, human factor engineers and quality engineers)
• Strong written and verbal communication.
Preffered Skills/Competencies:
• Design/test experience working with regulated medical devices.
• Experience working within a regulated environment.
• Local language test experience
• Experience in AzureDevop
