About the Role:

The Principal Adviser, Education is driven to influence community and householder behaviours in relation to recycling and waste avoidance. They will plan and lead the education and awareness raising activities for the agency, working with and supporting our stakeholders in state and local government, and the broader South Australian community.

Managing GISA’s community waste avoidance and recycling education activities to support the delivery of programs such as Which Bin? (GISA’s household waste and recycling education program) and Replace the Waste (GISA’s single-use plastic ban program) will be a key deliverable.

Providing expert advice to our stakeholders on the use of our programs and branded resources to improve recycling behaviours and build awareness and understanding of waste management systems will also be a priority.

We are looking for someone who can represent GISA in local government and other waste and sustainability forums to promote the use of the agency’s education programs will also be a key opportunity for the right candidate. They will also provide support for agency campaigns, events and projects that require broader community and local government education.

The ideal candidate will have existing deep connections to the waste, resource recovery and recycling industry and strong networks across state and local government.
