About the role

As our Principal Coordinator Funding, you will:
- Act as the Department's representative in dealing with the following external funding organisations:
o Queensland Regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) bodies
o Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources
o Australian Government Department of Environment and Energy
o Queensland Government departments responsible for NRM, climate change and Reef water quality- related activities
o Developing Northern Australia CRC
- Manage departmental processes associated with the development, prioritisation, quality assurance, internal endorsement and despatch of external funding submissions and ensure compliance with departmental and external funder protocols.
- Manage the business relationships between DPI and external funders and collaborators by promoting the open exchange of strategic issues and opportunities and ensuring strict compliance with government and funder guidelines in terms of funds management and performance.
- Initiate the development of appropriate legal contracts with external funders to accommodate approved work conducted by or on behalf of DPI.
- Review externally developed contracts (including conducting a risk assessment) in accordance with the responsibilities of a contract facilitator, and liaise with funders, collaborators and DPI legal to address contentious issues identified.
- Manage the execution, disbursement and storage of approved contracts and initiate follow-on procedures to achieve project commencement.
- Arrange contract variations and the development of 3rd Party Collaborative Agreements when required.
- Oversee key project management processes including milestone/ progress/final report submission, tax invoice generation and provision of financial and in-kind reports to external clients.
- Provide high-level advice to General Managers, Regional and Executive Directors and Business Unit Management Teams to ensure the management of externally and internally funded projects is consistent with departmental and Queensland Government priorities and policies.
- Apply research and analytical skills, systems thinking and organisational knowledge to prepare responses, correspondence, briefing notes, reports and other documentation in an authoritative, professional and timely manner for the Manager, Rural Economic Development.
- Assist project leaders to maintain and assure the quality of associated project information on the Department's project and performance management system (PARIS) and champion the innovative use of PARIS to project leaders and managers.
- Develop the reporting capacity of PARIS and other Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Information (MERI) databases to meet the project managers' and the department's internal and external project and program reporting needs.
- Adhere to the Department's Code of Conduct, including the principles and practices of employment equity, ethical conduct and workplace health and safety.

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable.
