This is a remote position.
Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Director of Technology, Datacenter Operations, the Principal Database Administrator will provide support in our database. You will be responsible for the performance reliability, and scalability of the organizations current database environment. Provide
direction and support in the use of database technology to ensure data base system accuracy, efficiency, and control.
Essential Duties:
• Own the Database Architecture and related environment
• Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated database monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any unplanned downtime.
• Responsible for database monitoring, integration, replication, notification, analysis, tuning, problem resolution, reporting, and production support
• Perform SQL server software upgrades; service packs and versions including testing and evaluation of patching strategies
• Create primary database storage structures, database objects, migration scripts to modify structures and objects
• Design efficient database architecture and maintain performance and tuning
• Provide direction to programmers and analysts as required to affect changes to database management systems
• Optimize database performance, security, and user access
• Coordinate allocation of storage and forecasting space requirements
• Identify long-running single queries
• Schedule, automate, execute and monitor job and system performance
• Resolve connectivity issues and Perform capacity planning
• Modify database structures and Provide database application support
• Schema changes in prod, testing, staging, instances, etc.
• Develop backup and recovery procedures
• Establish security roles and database access rights and controls
• Provide operational readiness through the engineering, planning, coordination, and execution of database performance and tuning analysis, support, incident and problem resolution, and upgrades.
• Be able to identify blocking transactions within a minute when required
• Provide technical and functional On-Call support as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or similar field.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience with leading enterprise relational database management systems
• Superior SQL/stored function/procedure skills
• Ability to identify, recommend, drive, and "own" projects and initiatives
• Attention to detail and quality of work
• High level of personal accountability for the continuity and improvement of the organization's database environments, data, and processes
• Self-motivation with a strong work ethic
• Superior troubleshooting skills, inquisitiveness, & the ability to preemptively resolve problems
• Extensive experience in MySQL query optimization and performance tuning
• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring other Database Administrators
• Strong time management skills, able to work on multiple large projects concurrently
• Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members, leaders, and customers on all levels
• Conceptual skills: able to perform in-depth systems analysis, recognizes problems, opportunities or underlying patterns and relationships. Can analyze requirements and translate them into priorities and action plans.
• Team player: Ability and willingness to motivate and mentor other consultants, act as change agent
• Independence and ownership: Work with a minimum of direct supervision or guidance from others
