Description

The Service & Team:

Cornwall Council Information Services are working to build high quality digital applications for our residents and staff.

We have adopted Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform to support multiple business applications across the authority. We’ve already built many applications and we need talented people with software development skills to join our growing team, help us accelerate the roll out of additional applications and to continually exploit new and emerging capabilities.

Software Developers are critical to our success, and we are pleased to offer an opportunity to join us as one of our Principle Developers.

The Role

This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern

This role is full time at 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. If you have a specific working arrangement, we are able to discuss what is possible.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

We’re a diverse team of developers with experience spanning front end, UI, UX, back end. We are using Microsoft Dynamics 365 to build internal and external solutions for our customers. Among the tools we use to deliver these are:
• Dynamics Customer Service including Omnichannel and PVA integration
• PowerApps portals
• PowerAutomate/Flows
• Wider Azure Stack (b2b, b2c, storage, functions, user management & permission handling etc…. )
• DevOps, GIT repos and pipelines
• .Net framework, .Net core, C#, Javascript/Typescript/React, SQL, HTML, SCSS/CSS

You are not expected to know all of the above, however you should consider yourself an expert in one or more of them.

You are able to lead and direct specialist teams in developing, monitoring, operating and supporting technical customer platforms or solutions. You will be responsible for making decisions on technical approach and solution design.

You are outcome focussed and collaborate across technologies and seek innovative solutions to meet customer needs.

You are able to take high level business requirements & problems and translate these to effective solutions. You enjoy working directly with your customers to help them to solve their business problems and meet their objectives. You understand the importance of designing for consistency, resilience and supportability.

We are an Agile team, so you will need to be flexible, adept at working in sprint cycles and comfortable with rapid fail fast principles. We work closely with our customers in smaller iterative deliveries.

We’re a friendly team and want new team members who will support our ethos of succeeding and failing as a team. Our team members support each other through mentoring and utilising the diverse range in the team though cross skilling. As a principle developer mentoring will be an important part of your role.

We work closely with other development teams within Information Services and share expertise and best practices to ensure a consistent approach across the service.

If you feel you have the aptitude and attitude for this type of roll but are not fully experienced, please contact matthew.smith@cornwall.gov.uk for an informal conversation, as there may be other opportunities that may suit you.
