EPIC experience team in Car Audio:
The HARMAN EPIC (Early Pursuits with Innovative Concepts) experience team is responsible for the Harman’s Car Audio innovation process and creates new car audio concept’s that are used to grow Harman’s position as an industry leader in the premium automotive audio space. Often these concepts are build into a concept vehicle. The EPIC team supports all HARMAN automotive brands with strong iconic perceptual in-car audio experiences created with understanding and respect for each brand’s DNA - based on creativity, innovation and new technologies and research within acoustic, sound field control, simulations, interaction, materials, mechanical design and user-friendly user interfaces.
The EPIC team primarily works on new concepts to support sales pitches towards OEM customers OR as generic concepts to be showcased at CES and similar tech events. The EPIC experience team owns most parts of the conceptual work if not all, including the user experience, system design, software components, hardware components, acoustic tuning, trim parts and fabrication of the demo car.
The EPIC experience team is a highly competent team of 50+ people including technical fellows & distinguished engineers located in 5 countries (US, Denmark, Germany, India and Japan) across domains of user experience, system design, hardware, software and acoustics. The EPIC software team in Bangalore will be working closely together with the global project teams on application development as well as embedded software solutions and the team is planned to grow from one person to 6 people in 2026.

Harman is a leader in audio technologies owning prestigious brands like Mark Levinson, AKG, Harman Kardon, JBL, Infinity. For most concept cars / demonstrators, audio processing is a major differentiator in user experience along with the digital/visual experience. The audio processing could be in PC or in external amplifiers OR in android systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the audio processing, development, porting, optimization, integration in the demo platforms to support Harman in winning new business with our OEM customers.
This position reports to the Sr. Program Manager of the EPIC team based in Europe but with a technical mentor locally in Bangalore. Work location would be Harman office in Salarpuria Sattva Knowledge Court, Whitefield, Bangalore.
Job Responsibilities:
• Own everything related to audio processing used for the demos
• Own the audio stack customization in demo platforms which include Android headunit/tablet, external Amplifiers
• Develop/Port/Optimize audio algorithms & integrate to Harman audio framework
• Develop, customize & integrate new signal flows for new features
• Work collaboratively with the global EPIC organization and Harman’s engineering teams.
• Handover the work done as part of the concept/demo to the global engineering team including documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
• Expert & hands-on in C/C++ programming
• Strong experience in porting, building & integrating open-source / 3rd-party modules independently
• Strong in DSP concepts and media, preferably audio player, codecs, framework, processing.
• Experience with measuring audio signals & qualifying using soundcards, audio precision tool etc.
• Should be able to adapt quickly to new technologies
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications and Behaviors:
• Experience in Android audio stack components like Stagefright, OMX components, Audioflinger, AudioHAL, audio policy configurations
• Experience with audio transport using A2B, AVB, MOST
• Experience with Dolby Atmos decoding, DRM
• Experience with Exoplayer or Foobar player/framework customization & plugin developments
• Experience with ADI Sharc DSP and/or Qcom ADSP and/or HiFi DSP programming/integration
• Experience with Harman AudioworX framework.
• Experience of working across multiple domains from cloud, application, middleware, DSP, drivers
• Experienced with microcontrollers, RTOS.
• Knowledge in technologies like Bluetooth, UWB, CAN, A2B, AVB, MOST, Networking, Security
• Knowledge of Kotlin/Java and Android Application development is a bonus.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Willingness to travel if needed to support a project.
• Willingness to work in an office.
• 5-15 years of related experience is expected.
