Overview:
The Principal Data Governance and Metadata Officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the SA Health Data Governance Framework. The position ensures a consistent and coordinated approach to metadata management across DHW’s official data assets and supports the creation of policies and procedures that operationalise good data governance.
The position also represents the DAI branch at state and national levels to promote high‑quality, consistent and trusted data stewardship across the health system.
Lead the design, implementation, ongoing management and review of the SA Health Data Governance Framework.
Develop and support policies and procedures that enable consistent data governance across SA Health.
Ensure a standardised approach to metadata management across DHW’s official data assets, products, and services.
Represent the DAI branch at state and national forums, promoting consistent, high‑quality data stewardship.
Contribute to the delivery of reliable, accurate and consistent data for internal and external users.

Criminal History Screening Requirement
A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment).
Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact).
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
Highly Desirable
Knowledge of the DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DAMA DMBOK).
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Management, or similar discipline.
