Job Description
As the Principal Legal Advisor (PO5), you will
provide practical and pragmatic legal and governance advice on complex and sensitive matters, that reflects legal obligations, risks and organisational priorities
prepare expert, accurate, and timely written advice on discrete matters as requested by the Director-General and ELT
review, contribute to and prepare briefs on legal matters and implications relevant to the department's portfolio
advise on legal development, regulatory updates, risks and contracts
facilitate specialist legal advice on highly complex and sensitive issues.
For This Role, You'll Need
a strong background in legal strategy, governance and advice, with demonstrated high level ability to consider the ramifications of a wide range of issues, anticipate priorities and break through problems.
knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire, legislation administered by the department
exceptional communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal issues into succinct, practical options and advice
to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including when dealing with conflicting views and priorities
to demonstrate agility, resilience and integrity in a complex and changing environment
to role model individual contributor leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland
contribute to our culture of workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion.
