The Principal Product Developer is the highest programming position in the product development job family and is responsible for providing programming leadership for a product/solution according to design specifications.The role builds prototypes and uses other appropriate techniques to achieve product definition and design goals.Promotes opportunities for product and process innovation identifying and implementing best practices. This role works on a broad array of critical, unique issues and complex programs/solutions.
Product development experience with a proven track record of delivering high quality commercial enterprise products. This individual should ideally possess 10+ years of experience working in an IBM ISV or OEM development environment.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Work directly with clients in North America and EMEA on complex product issues/escalations.
• Successfully developed and delivered products, product lines, and solutions ensuring functional accuracy and quality standards.
• Design, code, and fix defects of increasingly complex, multi-tier software solutions.
• Produces more and better design options, reflecting a wider breadth of technical knowledge and insight.
• Conduct code and design reviews.
• High-impact decision making; focusing on areas that deliver the largest value.
• Evaluate new technologies/innovations and processes that could impact products/solutions including 3rd party releases.
• Mentor/provide technical guidance to the development team.
• Leverage the skill sets of the entire team, take input and advice, combine pieces of information to produce a better answer.
• Highly developed mainframe technology skills
• Coding experience in a multitasking, reentrant and/or sysplex environment
• Self-starter able to work independently to provide quality solutions with little oversight.
• Experienced creating functional designs/specifications from business requirements.
• Experience with IBM Mainframe environment (TSO/ISPF, JCL etc.)
• Operating system centric role
• Excellent knowledge of z/OS structure and logic including knowledge of z/OS operating system internals
• Experience in developing working code utilizing low-level operating system functions to accomplish a desired task
• Understanding of zLinux and Unix System Services.
Skills & Experience
• Minimum 12+ years of experience with z/OS Processing Environment. At least 7 years IBM coding and development.
• Extensive development experience using 64-bit Assembler and 31-bit Assembler programming languages. Experience with C & C++ is also required.
• Extensive experience with Javatm virtual machines (JVM) that run on z/OS including their operating and environmental characteristics.
• Extensive experience with the configuration of JVMs in various application scenarios including z/OS Connect EE, Websphere Liberty, and CICS Transaction Gateway.
• Experience with TCP/IP and related networking protocols.
