Background: This position is in a Cloud based device management product team in Fortinet. The product provides a single pane of glass interface to customers all over the world and enables them to perform fine grained configuration, management and troubleshooting of LAN devices. The product is highly scalable and can cater to customers who manage a few tens of devices to corporations who manage thousands of devices across multiple branch offices. Job Description: We are looking for an engineer who can fulfil the role of a technical leader, working across the software stack with primary focus in the domain of C/C++ programming and networking. You will design and implement new product features and take ownership of debugging and taking challenging problems to closure. You will be involved in defining the roadmap and actions for utilizing the latest technologies to keep the product architecture agile. As a senior team member, you will be self-motivated and work independently with minimal need for supervision Responsibilities: This role will involve: Software development in the C programming language and integrating the developed code with a Java and Angular based software stack. End to end ownership of features, which involves integration and delivery of self-developed modules with UI components developed by other team members Participation in design of features, evaluating impact of features on different system modules. Being open to taking up technically challenging tasks without being sandboxed into any one technical domain. Strong ability and willingness to explore, learn and deliver Mentoring junior team members across technical domains and being a role model for analytical thinking and problem solving Requirements: Must have C/C++, Shell scripting programming experience on Linux Usage of relational databases and table design Experience in using a wide variety of data structures / algorithms with the ability to choose the right one for the problem at hand Hands on implementation experience with multithreaded systems Strong debugging skills on Linux Proven skills in designing software modules to meet feature requirements Proven skills in technical mentoring of junior engineers Great to have Python, Java programming experience Hands on experience with Docker and Kubernetes Good to have HTML, CSS and Javascript programming experience GoLang programming experience
