Principal Software Engineer
Xometry powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting innovators with manufacturers. Our digital marketplace gives manufacturers the resources they need to grow while making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to access global manufacturing capacity.
We're seeking a principal software engineer to join our Xometry quoting & pricing organization. As an individual contributor, you'll guide software design for a team of approximately 25 engineers. You'll report to and assist the vice president of engineering in shaping technology solutions that deliver reliable, high-performance, usable, and secure applications that solve complex business problems.
Responsibilities:
Hands-On Technical Leadership: Adopt a 'lead by example' approach by actively coding and troubleshooting.
Teaching & Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and guide to engineers across the organization, teaching and mentoring them to grow their skills. Conduct code reviews and mentor others within the organization to perform good code reviews.
Operational Excellence: Ensure delivery of superior software that meets but exceeds customer expectations, aligning with strategic business timelines.
Collaborative Strategy: Forge strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and company leadership to promote open communication and integrated team dynamics.
Guide Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, methodologies, and practices to enhance problem-solving efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
Qualifications:
At least 8 years of experience in software development, in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
Experience with a marketplace product is highly desired.
Strong technical expertise in REST API design and implementation, Python, frontend web technologies (HTML/DOM/CSS, React, Typescript), cloud hosting services (AWS), containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes), and Rust.
Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
