What's the role?
The HERE NDS (navigation database standard) Technologies team is looking for a Principal JAVA Engineer to build our map compilation product that creates the most comprehensive high definition live map in the market, intended to support precise navigation for self-driving cars.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle of our service
• Develop an innovative, scalable, high-quality set of microservices in a cross-functional team
• Provide technical leadership on the system architecture and deployment
• Write clean, simple and well-tested code
• Contribute ideas for new features and identify areas for improvement
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery of systems and infrastructure as well as extensive support for Oracle databases
• Collaborate effectively in and across teams
• Provide rotational on-call support to the product and root cause analysis of software and system defects
• You will build technical architecture between multiple complex systems
• You will document designs and architecture and review with team members
• You will drive continuous improvements with the team's processes
• You will proactively identify and resolve technical risks and issues that may impair the team's ability to deliver
• You will have an opportunity to have noticeable impact on the performance of a critical component of the platform
Who are you?
• You are a self-motivated, creative and proactive individual with strong understanding of the software development processes and methodologies. In addition, you should have:
• A Bachelor’s degree and Strong programming skills with 10+ years of experience
• Strong Back-end development experience with Java.
• Excellent experience building and using REST API
• Excellent experience on Oracle Database SQL tuning, performance optimization and setup(Oracle 11-1+)
• Excellent experience building and deploying microservices using Kubernetes
• Excellent experience running production services on public cloud (AWS preferred)
• Excellent experience with CI systems (Gitlab, Jenkins, or other)
• Python experience is a big plus
• Advanced experience in continuous integration & continuous delivery using GitLab (++)
• Jenkins is a plus
• Strong with algorithms & data structures
• Amazing analytical abilities and a gifted problem solver, besides being a good communicator
• AWS Certified Architect is a plus

Join our fast growing, highly motivated NDS (Navigation Data Standard) team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into how we capture the real world, how this is reflected in our reality index, and work with the team on how this data goes straight into cars with our NDS deliveries. We work with Agile practices and co-operate with numerous different teams inside and outside of the company. Our team delivers digital maps in NDS formats to our automotive customers where the data is going straight into cars to power autonomous driving uses cases
