What you will do
Act as a Principal software engineer in the development of a compelling set of end-to-end cloud-based solutions, delivering rich interactive experiences across a broad spectrum of connected platforms and services. Leverage real-world background and insight in user experience and human interface engineering to contribute towards the delivery of unique and compelling experiences, delivering information effectively through intuitive, easy to use client services and applications. The Principal Software Engineer will be instrumental in delivering unique and compelling solutions that leverage cloud-based services integrated with Johnson Controls world-class products
How you will do it
You should be hands-on working closely with your peers in software development, testing, and Architects in the company to deliver best of breed solutions with your technical expertise. You will be responsible for below critical functions in helping us design leading products
• The candidate should have excellent knowledge of developing microservices using java technologies
• Working knowledge of developing Java 8+ backend applications
• This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Principal software developer to technically lead in expanding the open blue cloud platform software development.
• Drive the analysis, design, development, implementation & testing of highly scalable multi-tenant Java based micro services & web applications
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming sessions, retrospectives, code reviews & recommend improvements
• Define build/test frameworks & strategies in a CI/CD environment
• Collaborate & maintain close relationships with other teams to ensure that the design & implementation fulfil business requirements & are delivered on time.
• Support software engineering development of complex projects; Deliver engineering tasks at the project level; Organizes engineering work in a logical manner.
• Able to meet project plans for software development activity of a project; prioritizing work to accomplish demanding changes.
• Maintenance of existing backend applications and involvement in new backend application development.
• The candidate should be very enthusiastic, self-motivated and a fast learner.
• Continuously improve software development processes.
• Able to co-ordinate and work in global team environment
• Stays abreast of technology developments and their potential impact and opportunities on the organization.
• Proactively identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to the application development process.
• Applied expertise in continuous-integration and continuous-deployment models.
• Ensuring defects are fixed and reviewed on a regular basis in the required timeframe.
• Works independently with minimal direction. Independently develops approach to solutions. Leads a process improvement team.
• Technical leader of projects / team. Expert in one or more products or features. Recognized expert in one or more technical disciplines.
• Plans complex projects & product releases.
• Able to complete full set of designs for features or products.
• Defines specs for multiple features or products.
• Project & product communicator.
• Able to represent Engineering in cross functional activities. Excellent written & verbal skills
What we look for
• BE/B.Tech/MTech/MCA
• Must have +-11 years' experience in Java/ J2ee development.
• Must be proficient in Core Java (8+) software development, Spring, Spring boot, JPA, Hibernate
• Experience developing applications utilizing the following web services technologies: REST, GraphQL
• Good knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Azure
• Cloud integration/implementation experience like Azure, AWS, GCP, or equivalent.
• SQL database technologies especially PostgreSQL
• Experience with distributed cache like JCS (Java Caching System), Redis Cache or equivalent.
• Experience with Jenkins, Maven or similar
• Knowledge of Camel integration. Ability to build integration pipelines
• Excellent working knowledge of Confluent Kafka.
• Good experience with version control systems, preferably Git
• Good experience with automated builds & tests (e.g., Jenkins, Maven)
• Experience with a distributed queuing technology such as JMS, MQTT or Kafka
• Good Experience implementing secure solutions using security concepts & protocols such as Oauth2, JWT & OpenID Connect
• Ability to work exceptionally effectively in a team environment is required.
• Ability to resolve technical queries of junior team members.
• Ability to review code thereby helping the team to adhere to the best coding practices.
• Self-motivation, tenacity, flexible and reliable in approach to work
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
Bonus/Nice to have
• Experience with scripting languages
• Experience with snowflake.
• Experience with NoSQL database such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, or equivalent.
• Experience developing Web apps with , Angular or equivalent JavaScript/TypeScript development framework.
