The search team, central to the Knowledge Discovery Group, has a bold mission of enabling researchers quickly find relevant content, collaborators, funding opportunities and related information. This will help advance scientific knowledge in their areas of research.
About the Role
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will support a team of passionate engineers in development of our Shared Search Platform. You will own robust highly scalable discovery experiences atop our vast research data.
Responsibilities
·Being a solutions architect leading the design and implementation of complex product requirements for researcher products.
·Being a core individual contributor with ownership of various services & components using technologies such as Elastic Search and Neo4j.
·Working closely with data scientists to deploy NLP, ML & Search models at scale to serve our very high throughput research products.
·Working with JVM-based cutting-edge technologies such as Kafka, Elastic Search, Neo4j, Java, Scala, Spark, GraphQL.
·Making consistently high-quality individual code contributions, adhering to best practices / patterns, and conducting code reviews.
·Mentoring, coaching, and helping develop less experienced team members
Requirements
·4+ years of commercial Information Retrieval or Search experience with tools such as Lucene, Solr or ElasticSearch
·10+ years of commercial software development with experience developing software in JVM languages
·Experience in architecturalleadership in the design and implementation of complex solutions
·Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure as code for managing cloud applications.
·Have interest in learning new technologies tools on the job, trends in search & information retrieval.
