We are looking for a talented Principal Engineer for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This individual will frequently interact with Principal Engineer, other engineers, developers, database administration personnel, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites to develop & test the code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the data management architect. The right person for this position will be a proactive, self-starting, strong software developer that knows how to work as part of a team.
A Day in the Life
• Implement and test the physical database environment, ETL process, business and presentation layers
• Develop necessary code to support the advancement of the data warehouse
• Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
• Provide guidance and work direction to the team
• Identify and drive continuous software development process improvements initiatives
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines
• Takes pride in quality, extensible, and maintainable work products. Demonstrates excellent coding practices.
• Thrives in working with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• B.E or B.Tech in Computer Sciences, Electronics or Electrical Engineer or higher
• 14+ years of software engineering experience
Must Have Experience
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• Able to quickly understand an existing landscape of huge database with large numbers of stored procedures, triggers, jobs and multiple upstream / downstream data flows with different applications.
• Strong proficiency with Sqlserver and its variation among popular databases; design stable, reliable and effective database
• Expertize at leading design, development & testing of SQL Server based Data Warehousing solutions using SSIS/SSRS
• Expertize at ETL process and data transformation
• Expertize at VSTS/TFS/Azure devops, Microsoft SQL Server, C#, XML/Xquery and Stored procs
• Expertize at writing, editing large complicated SQL statements
• Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices
• Experience on DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile methodology.
• High level of integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
• Problem-solving skills and creative thinking
• Defect analysis, writing and management through resolution
Nice to Have
• Experience with healthcare data domain or other regulated induatry
• Medtronic device knowledge desirable
• Experience working in a dynamic environment
Principal Working Relationship
• Reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
• Accountable to Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
• Frequently interacts with other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
• Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group. Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information
