Job summary:
As a Principal Engineer in Home Lending Technology, you will develop high quality code and will manage the build of solutions that help uncover meaningful insights leading to better customer experience. You will lead engineering scrum teams to develop high quality code and will manage the build of solutions that help uncover meaningful insights leading to better customer experience. You will accelerate the public cloud modernization efforts leveraging the latest technologies & enabling public cloud adoption. New Banking Architecture, Cloud, Microservices, Domain Driven Design, APIs (application programming interfaces), event driven systems, containerization and data on the edge are the patterns & technologies which are driving the future architecture at JP Morgan Chase. We, the Home and Auto Lending Technology (HALT) Engineering team are on the forefront of maturing these patterns/technologies by applying them to solve complex production use cases.
Our team operates with an Agile/Kanban mentality and takes pride in owning an objective to completion. As one of the senior engineers on our team,you will play a key role in setting technical direction for various initiatives undertaken. You will manifest a purpose to modernize applications and people in our firm by smoothing out sustained adoption paths for global technology's strategic products, platforms, and frameworks.You will be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle and partner continuously with your many stakeholders daily to stay focused on common goals. You will work in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment .
As a principal engineer, you'll ensure that the solutions we built are elegant, resilient, easy to integrate with and of the highest standards. You will be at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, so your experience understanding product roadmaps and business goals will be critical. You will play an integral role in making sure that partner initiatives are developed in accordance with firm-wide risk & architecture guidelines.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
Job Responsibilities:
Provide innovative solutions in collaboration with product, platform, architecture and other technology and data engineering teams
Deliver technical solutions on public and private cloud and create blueprints for common design needs across the organization
Full development life cycle of analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment
Participate in design and code reviews, define best practices and standards for design, coding and quality, scalability, performance optimization and reliability
Develop frameworks, deliver proof-of-concept (PoC's) and reference implementations
Demonstrate software engineering leadership through thoughtful design
Promote a culture of delivering high quality and reliable code by testing early and leveraging deployment best practices such as blue/green deployments, canary releases, etc.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills :
Bachelor's or Master's Degree - preferably in Computer Science with overall 16+ years' experience in software development utilizing Java based platforms for building mission critical enterprise applications including hands-on software development using Java, Java EE, Web Services/SOA and Java frameworks - Spring, Spring-boot, Hibernate, REST
Solid experience with architecting and designing resilient and scalable software solutions for multi-cloud platforms (private/public) using one or more modern programming languages and cloud platforms - Java, JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, Node, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Google cloud, Pivotal cloud foundry, Azure
Experience with building solutions for deployment in AWS is a must. AWS Developer or Architect certification is required.
Working knowledge of utilizing GIT via Github Enterprise or Bitbucket Server for software development
Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes, Skaffold and Docker. Knowledge of one or more NoSQL database technologies, preferably Apache Cassandra or Oracle
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills :
Understanding of Domain Driven Design concepts
Proficiency in Agile and DevOps/SRE culture
Financial industry experience is a plus
AWS Solutions Architect / Developer or any advanced level certification preferred
